Indigenous Ilnu Art & Craft | Unique and Authentic Creations

Dave Verreault-Thisselmagan is an Ilnu, Pekuakamiulnuatsh artisan from the community of Mashteuiatsh, recognized for his exceptional talent in creating Indigenous arts and crafts. For several years, he has dedicated his life to this passion, using his art as a way to reconnect with his Ilnu roots. Each piece he creates, whether dreamcatchers, jewelry or decorative objects, is infused with elements of Mother Earth and ancestral traditions.

Working full time on this project with his wife, also an artist, Dave aspires to promote indigenous art throughout the world. Together, they highlight the cultural riches of their people, using natural materials while integrating traditional techniques and modern designs.

Dave Verreault-Thisselmagan brings his expertise and honours Indigenous knowledge, using materials such as moose leather and furs from animals such as fox, coyote, beaver and mink. These elements each carry a deep spiritual meaning, respecting ancestral traditions and cultural practices.

Vicky, with her contemporary artistic look, enriches these traditional creations by adding a modern and innovative touch. His approach infuses each object with a current aesthetic, while respecting the cultural roots of his partner. This fusion creates works that honor traditions while providing a fresh and current perspective.

Their collaboration, based on a deep respect for traditions and a desire to share, aims to raise awareness and inspire an international audience to the beauty and depth of indigenous art. Through their hard work and dedication, Dave and his wife have succeeded in spreading awareness and appreciation of Indigenous art far beyond the borders of their communities.
