The smudge fans and feathers in this collection are handmade in Quebec by Dave Verreault-Thisselmagan, an Ilnu artisan from Mashteuiatsh, using carefully selected natural materials.

Natural feathers, genuine moose leather, fur, and other materials from the land may be used depending on the creation. Each piece has its own balance, shape, and character.

Smudge Fans and Purification Feathers

A smudge fan is designed to help guide smoke during a purification ritual. The feathers are selected for their shape, flexibility, and movement, then assembled to create a piece that is both functional and harmonious.

The handle may be crafted with moose leather, fur, or other natural materials. Each creation is assembled individually and is not reproduced exactly the same way.
