About Dave Verreault-Thisselmagan

Quick summary
Dave Verreault-Thisselmagan is an Indigenous artisan from Nitassinan, Quebec. Through his creations, he shares the spirit, wisdom, and beauty of Innu traditions. Each piece is handcrafted using natural materials and carries a profound meaning: the connection between the land, culture, and humanity.

On the banks of the Piekuagami River, in the heart of Nitassinan, Dave Verreault-Thisselmagan creates works that carry the memory and spirit of the Ancients. Each creation is a tribute to the land, to the animals, and to the knowledge that unites the visible and the invisible.

Born from a deep respect for the Innu culture and the Indigenous traditions of Quebec, his work is rooted in the recognition of the teachings passed down by elders and in the desire to share them through art.

Authenticity above all

At Artisanat Autochtone, nothing is mass-produced. Each talking stick, dreamcatcher, drum, or piece of jewelry is handcrafted, respecting natural cycles and spiritual symbols.

The materials come from the boreal forest: moose leather, natural feathers, carefully harvested wood, stones and meaningful elements.

Each piece is purified, blessed, and created with the intention of bringing protection, peace, and harmony.

A meeting between two worlds

Alongside his partner Vicky Villeneuve, Dave fosters an alliance between two worlds: that of indigenous traditions and that of contemporary Quebec culture.

Their union, both artistic and human, gives birth to a shared vision — that of an art that carries meaning, balance and mutual respect.

Vicky is involved in promoting creations, communication and cultural mediation projects, helping to build links between peoples and foster a better understanding of indigenous knowledge.

A transmission mission

Beyond the objects, Indigenous Craftsmanship is a bridge between generations.

Dave leads workshops, participates in projects to indigenize living environments, and shares his culture with schools, seniors, and community organizations.

Its goal: to keep traditions alive, honor ancestors and pass on to younger generations the pride of being connected to the land and the spirit.

A living, sincere, and meaningful art

Each artwork sold in the shop comes with a story — sometimes a legend, sometimes a prayer.

It is this living and spiritual approach that distinguishes Indigenous Craftsmanship: an authentic art, born of the hand and the heart, which invites reconciliation between humans and nature.
