Who are we
Indigenous Crafts is a local workshop located in Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec, Canada. The creations are handcrafted by Innu artisan Dave Verreault-Thisselmagan, with the support of his partner Vicky Villeneuve. Each piece is made with carefully selected natural materials and spiritual intention, offering authentic, respectful, and meaningful art.
Who are we
Indigenous crafts was born in Mashteuiatsh, on the banks of the Piekuagami. The workshop is run by Dave Verreault-Thisselmagan , an Innu craftsman, and his partner Vicky Villeneuve , who contributes to the promotion of the works, communication and cultural projects.
Each creation is handcrafted, respecting traditions and knowledge. The aim is to offer authentic, accessible works deeply rooted in the cultural identity of Mashteuiatsh.
The history of the workshop
The workshop stems from Dave's desire to pass on the knowledge he received from his elders and to keep Innu culture alive through art. Handcrafted creation has become a space for expression and remembrance, as well as a way to showcase the rich cultural heritage of First Nations.
Over time, early works, collaborations with organizations, and projects in educational settings led to the creation of the Indigenous Crafts online store. The goal is to make Indigenous art accessible while maintaining impeccable quality and a deep respect for traditions.
The role of the craftsman
Dave Verreault-Thisselmagan creates each piece by hand, without any mass production. His work is distinguished by a rigorous selection of natural materials, including:
- 100% Genuine Moose Leather
- 100% natural rooster feathers
- Genuine fur, carefully selected
- Wood harvested respectfully on Nitassinan (ancestral territory)
- Stones and symbolic elements
Each creation is purified, crafted with intention and designed to offer protection, peace, or guidance to the recipient. Each piece is unique and made with respect and harmony in mind.
A complementary collaboration
Vicky Villeneuve supports Dave with an approach focused on promotion, communication, and cultural mediation. She helps to convey the meaning behind the works, develop projects, and build bridges between cultures.
This collaboration strengthens the balance between traditional craftsmanship and a presentation accessible to today's public.

Cultural engagement and transmission
In addition to the shop, Dave participates in workshops, educational projects, and Indigenous awareness initiatives. He offers activities to schools, elders, and organizations to share the traditions, values, and knowledge of his community.
