Indigenous Medicine Bags – Healing, Protection, and Intention
Indigenous medicine bags are spiritual objects deeply rooted in healing traditions and practices. They carry symbolism, protection, and intention, and accompany those who carry them on their personal and spiritual journey.
My name is Dave Verreault-Thisselmagan , an Innu craftsman from Quebec. Each medicine bag in this collection is handmade, respecting the teachings passed down by the elders, Indigenous culture, and the sacred connection to the land.
My signature as an artist – my creative process
Each medicine bag I create is handcrafted using a deep, conscious process rooted in respect for Indigenous traditions. This is my artistic signature, and it's what makes each of my pieces meaningful.
I personally select 100% natural moose leather for its suppleness, durability, and its living connection to the animal. This leather is worked slowly, with precise movements, to preserve its strength and memory.
Once the bag is hand-sewn with natural thread, I place holy sage inside to purify it, imbuing it with protection, intention, and positive energy before it goes to its new owner. A semi-precious stone is also placed inside as a symbol of spiritual connection and guidance.
In indigenous cultures, the medicine bag is much more than a simple container: it is a spiritual object, a living link to the earth, ancestors, elements, and the teachings of the heart.
No two medicine bags are exactly alike. Each piece is unique.

Healing, protection and personal journey
A medicine bag can contain sacred items chosen with intention: medicinal herbs, stones, symbolic objects, or personal prayers. It accompanies rituals and moments of inner transformation.
In Innu culture, the medicine bag represents the strength of the heart and the balance between spirit, nature, and all living things. It can be carried on one's person or kept as a symbol of protection.
