The Legend of the Guardians of the Four Elements
This legend tells the story of the world's birth through four spirits: Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water. Each carries an essential force—memory, light, breath, and healing. Their union created balance and gave birth to human beings, guardians of the connection between the elements.
It is said that at the very beginning of the world, the Earth was still just a breath.
A fragile whisper lost in the darkness.
There was no sky, no mountain, no river… only a heartbeat.
like a heart ready to awaken.
The ancients say that this heart was not that of a god.
nor that of a human…
but that of the Earth itself, still asleep.
Then the first four beings arrived.
They weren't from here.
They didn't come from somewhere else.
They were the elements.
🌋 Aina – The Spirit of the Earth
The first to manifest was Aina, the Spirit of the Earth.
His body was made of stone and roots,
and each of his steps created a mountain.
She said:
"I carry the traces of the past and the seeds of the future."
I am the memory of the world.
Without me, nothing can take shape.
And everywhere she laid her hand, the earth came to life:
forests, hills, caves, minerals…
It all came from his deep breath.
🔥 Asha – The Spirit of Fire
Then came Asha, the Spirit of Fire.
She wasn't walking: she was dancing.
His movements left sparks in his wake.
which became the sun, the stars, and the warmth of the day.
She said:
“I am the momentum, the passion, the light that awakens.”
"Nothing can grow without me."
Where it touched the Earth, the embers rekindled.
The volcanoes were opening,
and the first animals felt the warmth of life.
🌬️ Sowan – The Spirit of the Wind
The third was Sowan, the Spirit of the Wind.
No eye could see it.
But every living being felt his presence.
He whispered:
“I am breath, voice, movement.”
I carry the messages that travel between beings.
When Sowan passed over the Earth, the trees trembled,
The birds learned to fly,
and the first songs were carried by his breath.
🌊 Nami – The Water Spirit
His steps fell like drops of rain.
and each drop became a river, a lake, a sea.
She said:
“I am fluidity, healing, the cycle.”
I am the mirror in which every being sees its true nature.
Thanks to her, life was able to move forward.
to grow, to transform.
🌈 The birth of the world
The Earth lit up.
The fire warmed the earth.
The Wind carried the Water.
Water sculpted the Earth.
The Earth feeds the Fire.
And together, they created the perfect balance.
But something was still missing:
a being capable of remembering them.
So, from the meeting of the four elements,
Humankind was born.
Composed of soil, heat, breath, and water,
He carried within him the memory of each of the spirits.
The elders say:
“We were born from the elements,”
And it is by respecting them that we remain alive.
Every time humans forget this connection,
The four return to their dreams
and wait to be called again.
🌀 What the legend also says
- When you walk barefoot, Aina listens to you.
- When you burn sage or fire, Asha answers you.
- When you breathe deeply, Sowan flows through you.
- When you touch the water, Nami recognizes you.
The Earth is not a place.
The Earth is a being.
And we were all born from his breath.
