✨ A unique artistic signature: Dave Verreault-Thisselmagan is the only Indigenous artist to create this type of mural with a fox head, blending natural materials, cultural symbolism and traditional know-how.
Meaning for the craftsman & significance of the fox in Innu culture
I created this wall art with the deep intention of honoring the spirit of the silver fox, a being associated with wisdom, benevolent cunning, and the ability to adapt to the cycles of life.
In Innu culture, the fox is recognized as a guardian of passages, the one who teaches us to look beyond what our eyes see and to perceive what lies hidden behind appearances. It accompanies humans through moments of transition, gently guiding them towards inner understanding.
Every element of this creation was chosen with respect:
— driftwood shaped by wind and water,
— real feathers,
— natural moose leather,
all picked on Nitassinan, our ancestral territory.
The silver and brown hues are reminiscent of the glow of twilight over the boreal forest — that sacred moment when the light transforms, when the earth and spirits meet.
Suspended on a wall, this artwork exudes a gentle and protective energy. It brings grounding, wisdom, and harmony to the space it inhabits.
Each piece is entirely unique: nature imprints its own signature and no two works will ever be identical.
This creation pays homage to the fox, messenger of the territory and guardian of inner transformation. It connects art to nature, hand to mind, and invites the viewer to feel the living presence of the animal and spiritual world.
